Lawful basis
Under Article 6 of the GDPR we need a lawful basis for each use of personal data we control. For data we process for a pet business, that business chooses the basis.
| What we do | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Creating and running your Happy Pet Tech account | Contract |
| Billing your subscription | Contract |
| Service notices, such as billing and security alerts | Contract |
| Keeping the platform secure and preventing misuse | Legitimate interests |
| Answering demo requests and support questions | Legitimate interests |
| Analytics and advertising cookies on happypet.tech | Consent |
| Keeping invoices and tax records | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed them against your rights. Ask us and we will explain that assessment.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or EEA, the GDPR gives you these rights. Using them is free.
Access
Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification
Ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
Erasure
Ask us to delete your data. We keep only what the law requires, such as invoices.
Portability
Receive your data in a spreadsheet you can take to another provider.
Object
Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing.
Restriction
Ask us to limit how we use your data while a complaint is resolved.
Withdraw consent
Change your cookie choices at any time from the cookie settings on this site.
Automated decisions
We make no decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similar effects.
If you are a customer of a pet business that uses Happy Pet Tech, that business decides what happens to your data. Send your request to them. If it reaches us instead, we pass it on and help them answer it.
Data transfers
The Happy Pet Tech application, its database and uploaded files are hosted on Amazon Web Services in Mumbai, India. India does not have an EU adequacy decision, so transfers from our EU and EEA customers to us are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in our Data Protection Addendum.
Some features rely on providers outside India, such as WhatsApp messaging, push notifications and calendar sync. They only receive data when a business turns the feature on. The full list of sub-processors and where they operate:
